‘He’s very aware’: Gold shares what Conte already knows about Tottenham’s January transfer budget

Spurs journalist Alasdair Gold spoke on his this week about the resources that will be made available to Tottenham boss Antonio Conte in the January transfer window.
It really is an exciting time to be a Spurs fan. The Nuno Espirito Santo appointment never really looked right, but with a proven winner like Conte now at the helm, Tottenham’s fortunes could well change.
The Italian’s first opportunity to reshape his squad will come in January. Conte has only signed an 18-month contract, which makes his first transfer window one of his most important ones at Tottenham.
Many fans are hoping that Daniel Levy will give him everything he needs, but Gold, who knows Tottenham very well, believes that there’s very little financial room to make a statement in the winter window.
Alasdair Gold: Tottenham’s January transfer budget isn’t big
Gold touched on transfers in his latest . He has claimed that Conte hasn’t even discussed transfers yet, but his comments on Spurs’ transfer budget is what will catch everyone’s attention.
He said: “I was told last week that they haven’t actually discussed transfers yet with Conte at the club.
“I’m sure when they were bringing him in there was some talk about ideas and what he would like and what their plans were and finances, but I’m led to believe that he’s very aware of the situation at Tottenham.
“I don’t think there’s huge amounts of money to throw around in January at all. There may have to be a sale or two to help facilitate that, because (although) Spurs are financially stable compared to where they were, they’re still getting back to that ground.”

TBR View:
It is clear as day that Tottenham need reinforcements in more than one position. That will cost a lot of money, but if Gold is to be believed, Spurs can only fork out a bit here and there in the January transfer window.
As concerning as it is, that may well be the case.
Remember when Jose Mourinho came in at around the same time and everyone expected Spurs to break the bank in his first transfer window? That didn’t happen, Steven Bergwijn was their only permanent signing that January.
Conte could well be forced to accept that and wait for the big bucks in the summer. Gold believes that the Italian is well aware of the financial situation, but knowing him, if he doesn’t get what he wants, there will be fireworks.
