‘He’s useless’… Pundit claims Erik ten Hag has signed a complete dud at Manchester United

Pundit Eamon Dunphy has claimed that Manchester United forward Antony is completely ‘useless’.

Speaking on , Dunphy suggested that Erik ten Hag has signed a complete dud in Antony

Antony made the switch to Old Trafford last summer as Man United paid a fee worth around .

The 23-year-old enjoyed a fairly promising debut campaign last time out and put in some encouraging displays off the right-hand side.

But the winger is yet to register a goal or an assist this term, despite making 18 appearances in all competitions.

And it’s fair to say that Eamon Dunphy isn’t a fan of Ten Hag’s decision to sign his former player from Ajax.

Dunphy says Antony is ‘useless’

Speaking on The Stand, Dunphy delivered his verdict on Antony’s impact at United so far.

“Antony cost £90 million from Ajax, Ten Hag’s old club,” the pundit said. “He’s had chance after chance. He plays him every week, he’s useless.”

Antony proved to be an important part of Ten Hag’s side last season but ultimately needed work on his end product. He’s struggled to make an impact this term, along with a host of United’s forward players.

Indeed, the likes of Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund have also failed to contribute regularly in the final third, with the latter yet to net his first league goal.

The Red Devils have been underwhelming in an attacking sense this season as they’ve managed just 18 goals in 17 league appearances.

The likes of Antony will need to start stepping up over the coming weeks to help Ten Hag guide United through a difficult spell.

There’s no doubt the Brazilian winger has the required talent and has previously thrived under the Dutchman’s guidance at Ajax.

But you’d have to say that based on his performances so far, United seem to have overpaid significantly to land Antony.
