‘He’s unbelievable’… Jamie Donley says £22m Tottenham player has been helping him so much in training

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jamie Donley has now been praising one of his senior teammates for their influence in training.

Donley, who is edging closer to Ange Postecoglou’s first team all the time, has been brilliant for Spurs’ Premier League 2 side this year.

The 19-year-old now has four assists and nine goals in his 10 appearances in the Premier League 2, as well as two assists and three goals in three EFL Trophy games.

It’s been an incredibly productive campaign for the forward, who’s been honing his ability as playmaker throughout the season.

And with Donley now regularly involved in Tottenham’s first team training, he’s been sharing some observations.

Donley has been speaking to during Spurs’ long run without a game, and praised several of his new teammates.


But in particular, it seemed as if Donley has been grateful for the role Son Heung-min has been playing as captain.

The youngster said that Son was ‘very good’ to him, and often makes the extra effort to help.

Donley explained how Son has been teaching him to take an extra touch in front of goal if needed, helping him improve his composure.

The youngster said: “He’s unbelievable. He’s great to have around the building. He’s always smiling. He helps me a lot.

“He gives me help in training and tells me what he thinks. He’s very good to me.

“If I’m in front of goal he’s making sure I’m more composed and staying calm and telling me to take an extra touch if the situation requires it.

“It’s simple things, not big things, but they’re the kind of things that can definitely help me.”

Of course, Tottenham fans will surely be very pleased to hear Son is taking a captain’s role in training, making the effort to help Donley.

Postecoglou’s decision to make the his captain, and heir to Harry Kane’s lofty expectations has proved an incredibly good decision.

And although he’s been a little quiet with his goalscoring since his Asian Cup return, this rest should help the 31-year-old.

All that being said, one former Tottenham player has now admitted he never fully enjoyed playing at the club.
