‘He’s spectacular’: Even Lionel Messi is a huge fan of player Klopp reportedly wants at Liverpool

claim this week that Liverpool are interested in signing Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.
The Argentine was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer. Arsenal and Tottenham were reportedly keen, but he ended up signing a new deal at the San Siro in the end.
Inter have no plans of selling Martinez, but the 24-year-old has caught Jurgen Klopp’s eye. The Liverpool boss reportedly wanted him 18 months ago before signing Diogo Jota, and he now views the Inter Milan star as an eventual successor to Roberto Firmino, who is 30 already.
Martinez is a fantastic player and nobody at Liverpool needs any convincing about him. If there’s still any doubt, a glowing recommendation from a certain Lionel Messi should do the trick.
Lionel Messi on Liverpool-linked Lautaro Martinez: He’s spectacular
Back in 2020 when the Inter Milan man was linked with a move to Barcelona, Messi said, as per : “He’s spectacular.
“He has impressive qualities. You could tell he was going to be a great player and he is showing that.
“He’s very strong, really good one on one, scores a lot of goals and in the area he fights with anyone, holds it up, he can turn, scrap to win it all on his own. He has a lot of quality. He’s very complete.”

TBR View:
Firmino has been a phenomenal player for Liverpool over the years. He might not score as many goals as Sadio Mane or Mo Salah, but the way he links play up from his false-nine position is one of the biggest reasons why the Reds have been so successful.
The Brazilian turned 30 a couple of months ago and it’s the right time for Liverpool to find his successor. Jota is a phenomenal option and he has proved his worth already. However, a proper centre-forward like Martinez will only bring the best out of the Portugal international.
Martinez’s new contract ties him down at Inter Milan till the summer of 2026. His new deal does not include a release clause, which means that the Nerazzurri are free to demand whatever amount they want. That complicates things for interested clubs, but if Liverpool really want him, they should be able to get him.
