‘He’s right up there’: Charlie Adam says Rangers star is one of the best players around
Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor was in inspired form on Thursday night, the Ibrox legend helping Steven Gerrard’s side to a 1-1 draw in their Europa League last-16 first leg.
The 39-year-old couldn’t do much about Slavia Prague’s opening goal, a great Nicolae Stanciu effort, but held firm thereafter, before delivering a moment of absolute brilliance late on.
A Ondrej Lingr corner whipped into the box fell perfectly for Lukas Masopust, who connected with a seemingly goalbound thumping header to McGregor’s left.

The Ibrox stopper swiftly got down to not only thwart his opponent, which would’ve made it a stunning save in itself, but somehow grounded the ball and kept hold of it.
“That is unbelievable,” former Rangers ace Peter Lovenkrands said on BBC Sport ().
“”He’s jumping back the way and claws the ball on the line. That is a world class save from Allan McGregor.”
Charlie Adam added: “Steven Gerrard says that Allan McGregor is the best goalkeeper he’s worked with, playing or managing and you can see why. He’s right up there for me.”
McGregor has made 386 competitive senior appearances for Rangers over two spells, and has won four Scottish Premiership titles, five Scottish League Cups and three Scottish Cups.
Rangers welcome Slavia to Ibrox next Thursday, with the tie evenly poised thanks to Filip Helander’s goal, before contesting the Old Firm derby three days later.
