‘He’s ready’: Conte says Tottenham have a player he’s yet to use with ‘great quality’
Antonio Conte has insisted that Steven Bergwijn is definitely in his plans, insisting that the forward will be in the Tottenham Hotspur squad that faces Brentford on Thursday, .
Bergwijn appeared to be facing an uncertain future with Spurs. He had previously struggled to stamp his authority on a position in the side under both Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo.

And it did seem that Bergwijn was set to face similar struggles under Conte. He did not feature in any of the Italian’s first three games. The 25-year-old was on the bench for the games against Everton and Leeds.
And it would appear that he is attracting interest ahead of the January transfer window. It was claimed this week that Ajax want the former PSV Eindhoven man.
But Conte has provided a clear indication that Bergwijn will not be going anywhere anytime soon as he was asked whether he is in his plans.

“For sure he has great quality,” he said, .
“He’s good one v one, he’s fast, he has quality, he can beat a man and also score. Now we’re working. Now also he’s understanding what I want from him and for me, he’s one of the strikers who can play in all three positions of the strikers.
“Surely he’s a player that I have to make an important evaluation of. But he’s in my squad and I count on him for sure. Tomorrow’s he’s ready and available.”
Bergwijn still approaching crucial period in Tottenham career despite Conte praise
The good news for Bergwijn is that it appears that Conte is ready to give him a chance. However, he will be aware of how imperative it is that he makes the most of any opportunities that come his way.
Conte is still learning about his squad. And with the January transfer window just around the corner, it is likely some ruthless decisions are on the horizon.
As things stand, Bergwijn will be going nowhere. But he will be aware that his situation could change should he fail to impress and Tottenham receive a substantial bid.
