Maty Ryan, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal, has revealed in an interview that Martin Odegaard is open to a return to Real Sociedad one day.

The Norwegian, like Ryan, spent six months on loan at the Emirates last term. He was re-signed on a permanent deal in the summer and Arsenal fans see his long-term future in North London.

However, Odegaard has apparently told Ryan that he would like to join Real Sociedad one day. The former Real Madrid man spent a season on loan in San Sebastian, and he has nothing but happy memories from there.

Maty Ryan: Martin Odegaard is open to Real Sociedad return one day

Asked if he’s still in contact with Odegaard, Real Sociedad’s Ryan told : “Yes, frequently.

“Before I knew that they (Real Sociedad) were interested in me, he (Odegaard) told me that Real, from his experience here, was a great team. A 10 out of 10 in everything: the team, life here, the public… everything. And now I agree with him.

“He’s comfortable at Arsenal, but he’s open to coming back one day, for sure.”

Arsenal fans have nothing to be worried about

Odegaard certainly enjoyed his time at Real Sociedad. He scored seven goals and provided nine assists when he was on loan there, and he’s still loved by everyone associated with Los Txuri-Urdin.

The Norwegian would undoubtedly love to go back there one day, but that’s not going to happen anytime soon.

Odegaard signed a four-year contract when he joined Arsenal in the summer and Mikel Arteta absolutely loves him. He is an undisputed starter at the Emirates, and the only way he’ll leave North London is if a club much bigger than the Gunners comes in for him.
