Mark Guidi says Celtic are looking at signing striker who’s been seen cheering them on
The Celtic transfer rumour mill is in full swing this morning as the headlines come thick and fast about possible targets for Brendan Rodgers.
The Celtic manager is keen to add to the squad before Thursday night’s deadline and with less than three days to go, time is running out for Rodgers.
However, one name that has been continually mentioned for a possible move is 23-year-old Dutch striker, Sydney van Hooijdonk.
The Serie A striker was first mentioned by TBR Celtic back in November and now it seems that speculation is ramping up that a move could actually happen.
We also told this morning how Fabrizio Romano said Celtic’s interest was ‘concrete’ and now it’s the turn of Mark Guidi.
The journalist was looking at the options Celtic could be looking at and claimed that van Hooijdonk is on Brendan Rodgers‘ list.
Guidi said [], “I think he’s on the list. And what they’ll be doing the now, certainly in the last three days, you really look at your options.
“You’ll find there will be a bit of movement because clubs need to get people off the wage bill and they will want to move one or two people on to try and get one or two people in and that’s what Celtic will be trying to do.
“So it could well be Sydney van Hooijdonk.”
Van Hooijdonk’s Celtic fame continued after went viral this week as it showed the young striker cheering on Celtic against Rangers in teh famous 3-0 win over the Glasgow rivals.
I have spoken on many occasions about whether I believe the Bologna striker is good enough to play for Celtic. At 23, he clearly isn’t the finished article.
With Brendan Rodgers saying he wants to add first-team-ready players then if he is on the Celtic manager’s list, then Rodgers must see him as a player who could step into the team right now.
As I said, the van Hooijdonk rumour is not going away and it is one TBR Celtic will be watching closely over the coming days.
