Roy Keane had a go at reported Tottenham Hotspur target Jesse Lingard after he came on as a substitute for Manchester United against Liverpool last night.

Reports first revealed back in January that Antonio Conte had told Spurs to sign Lingard before the end of the winter window. The Red Devils did not allow him to leave the club then, but Tottenham’s interest hasn’t gone away.

reported after the January window that Tottenham will remain an option for Lingard this summer when his contract at Old Trafford comes to an end.

The 29-year-old is still a Manchester United player and he got a chance off the bench at Anfield last night.

Roy Keane says Tottenham-linked Jesse Lingard is not good enough

Paul Pogba started for Manchester United in the middle of the park last night but the French World Cup winner hobbled off the pitch with an injury just 10 minutes into the game.

Ralf Rangnick decided to bring Lingard on in place of him and that infuriated Keane.

The ex-United skipper said on : “I’ve never known so many players wanting to leave Manchester United… the greatest club in the world. You could see after the Everton defeat they have already left the building. They’re gone.

“Lingard coming on to try and save Man Uniter. Lingard should have left two years ago – he’s not good enough.”

One might wonder if Jesse Lingard is not good enough for Manchester United, how would he fit at Tottenham Hotspur, a team who are currently higher in the table than the Red Devils.

Lingard’s performance last night wasn’t great but neither was any other Manchester United player. The Englishman has barely played this season and to expect him to come on and have an impact away from home against one of the best sides in the world is just ridiculous.

The 29-year-old showed everyone how good he is last season. He was one of the best players in the league while on loan at West Ham and if he can find that form again, he’ll be an incredible signing for any club, including Tottenham.

Lingard will not be short of offers this summer but if Tottenham really want him, they should be able to get him.
