‘He’s great’, ‘start against Everton’: Some Liverpool fans react as Reds sign teenage prospect

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to welcome Anfield newcomer Marcelo Pitaluga after the Reds confirmed his signing today.

The 17-year-old goalkeeper joins Liverpool after having been part of the Brazil squad that won the FIFA Under-17 World Cup on home soil last November.

Pitaluga, who reportedly joins the Reds for £1.8million, also made the bench for two Fluminense fixtures in the Brazilian Serie A last season,

The 6ft 3in youngster worked with Alisson Becker’s brother, Muriel, at the Brazilian side, and was recommended to Liverpool by the 33-year-old.

The Reds have confirmed that Pitaluga has now started training at Melwood, where he will be based with the first-team group, alongside playing for the club’s academy teams.

Plenty of Liverpool fans have welcomed his arrival, with some even hoping Jurgen Klopp could give him game time against Everton when the Premier League resumes.
