‘He’s got everything’: Manager tips ‘Arsenal’s best player’ to join Premier League rivals one day
Neil Lennon has tipped Arsenal’s Scotland star Kieran Tierney to join Premier League champions Manchester City in the future.
, the former Celtic manager believes the defender has what it takes for Pep Guardiola’s side. Despite only coaching Tierney for a handful of games, Lennon was full of praise for the Arsenal star.
The 24-year-old left-back has established himself as one of the top fullbacks in the Premier League since leaving Celtic. Tierney was key to Arsenal’s 2020 FA Cup win last season.
Tierney has ‘everything’ for Arsenal and Scotland
Tierney’s form has won plenty of plaudits from players and pundits. And Lennon believes the Scotsman could one day make a move to City.
The ex-Celtic boss said: “When I had him at Celtic, Kieran was really confused about what to do in terms of leaving because the club meant so much to him.
“Ambition and finances meant he made the right call for his career. For me, he’s Arsenal’s best player.
“I could see him going to Manchester City, he’s got all the tools to play for them. He’s maybe not got the all-rounded left foot that Andy has, that natural whip, but he’s got everything else and he sees things. He’s so athletic and powerful.”
Arsenal’s misfortunes could push Tierney away
Tierney, who is currently with Scotland for Euro 2020, has developed into one of Arsenal’s best performing players since arriving two years ago. But the club’s misfortunes since the defender’s move to north London could result in the fullback leaving in the not-so-distant future.
The former Celtic star is on a path to becoming one of the best left-backs in world football should Tierney get over his injury problems.
But with Arsenal not qualifying for the UEFA Champions League since 2016, the 24-year-old could decide to leave for a club regularly competing in Europe for the betterment of his career.
