‘He’s fantastic’: BBC pundit in awe of 27-year-old Liverpool man’s ‘world class’ display for his country
Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson endured a bittersweet day on Monday.
The Reds star captained Scotland in their first major tournament game since 1998.
However, they suffered a defeat in their opening Euro 2020 game against Czech Republic.

Scotland gave a good account of themselves at Hampden Park, with 58 percent possession and 19 efforts.
Sadly, the Czechs were more clinical as Patrik Schick scored twice.
His first was a header three minutes before half time, while his second was a superb looping effort from the halfway line.
Liverpool ace gave “a captain’s performance”
Robertson was one of his team’s best players on the day.
Although the 27-year-old missed a great opportunity to give Scotland a first-half lead, he was outstanding throughout.
According to Opta – via – the Liverpool fullback created six chances.
This was most by a player at Euro 2020 so far and the best by a Scotsman after Gary McAllister had 10 against Germany in 1992.
And BBC Sport pundit Darren Fletcher was eager to sing his countryman’s praises at full time.

“Andy Robertson is a world class left-back and he showed that here today,” he said ().
“A captain’s performance, drove the team on.
“He does it for Liverpool, he does it for Scotland. He’s fantastic.
“But he won’t be thinking ‘I’ve played well today’.
“His team lost 2-0 and he was captain – that’s all he will be thinking about.”
Scotland are next in action on Friday night, against England.
