Indeed, Elneny only made his first Premier League start of the season on Thursday at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old gave a decent account of himself against the Red Devils.

Elneny pressed well and working tirelessly, although he offered little going forward.

Campbell, speaking to Sophie Nicolaou on , said he liked the “much-maligned” midfielder’s display.

However, he believes Elneny’s time at the club is coming to an end.

“I thought he had a decent game, I’d give him a 6,” said Campbell.

“He kept it moving, he’s fit, you know what he’s going to give you.

“He’s not going to create anything but he allows Partey to drive a little bit forward and get passes out to a martinelli and stuff like that

“I thought he had a decent game.

“He’s not the answer, we know that, definitely not the answer and will probably be gone if this is his last season at Arsenal.”

In November, reported that Mikel Arteta and Edu are apparently willing to let Elneny go in January.

They claimed Edu had “reached an agreement” with Arteta over terminating his contract if Galatasaray come calling.
