‘He’s come a long way’: Arteta says one Arsenal player is now on a completely different level

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta raved about Thomas Partey following his side’s win over Leicester City yesterday.
The Gunners went into the game as favourites to pick up all three points and they did just that. Partey opened the scoring with a good header from a Gabriel Martinelli corner and gave Arsenal a 1-0 lead at the break.
Arteta’s men started the second half brilliantly as well and Partey was again involved in the most important moment of the half. The Ghanaian’s header struck Caglar Soyuncu’s hand and Arsenal won a penalty. Alexandre Laczette converted it brilliantly and that was enough to seal the game.
Partey has really been brilliant recently. Arteta was quizzed about the improvement the midfielder has shown compared to last season and the Gunners boss admitted that he has come a long way.
Mikel Arteta: Thomas Partey has come a long way since last season
Speaking after the game yesterday, Arteta said about Partey, as per : “You can see he was voted Player of the Month, he’s come a long way (since he joined the club).
“He has the consistency of the minutes, he understands what we want much better, his cohesion and understanding with the rest of the players is getting better and better. Now, it’s about consistency and keep doing it.”
Asked about the Ghanaian’s improvement, he said: “It comes from the player though I think. We discussed it in the press conference the other day a little bit, but I think when a player accepts their reality, and when a player accepts that – OK he wants to be in a different position – you can’t expect that (change) to happen if you don’t change anything that you do.
“So he has started to do many other things, and you can see that he is enjoying being on the pitch, and this is what we want.”

TBR View:
Everybody knew Partey was a world-class player when he joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid last season. However, his Arsenal career was hampered with injuries and that really made his life difficult.
However, since the turn of the year, he has been on a completely different level. Apart from his sending off against Liverpool in the cup, the Ghanaian has barely put a foot wrong and his form is one of the biggest reasons why Arsenal are in the driving seat to finish in the top four.
Arsenal take on Liverpool next and that will be their biggest test since New Year’s Day. Jurgen Klopp’s men are on a roll as well and they will come to the Emirates as the favourites.
However, if Partey steps up in the middle of the park and has a solid outing, Arsenal will likely come out of the game with a positive result.
