‘He’s back on the pitch’… Brendan Rodgers delivers exciting injury update after Celtic beat St Mirren
Celtic’s win over St Mirren in the Scottish Cup was one that had the potential of being a tricky one for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The Celtic boss has had to tinker with his back four of late after the recent injuries to Greg Taylor, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alistair Johnston.
However, after Celtic progessed to the quarter-final of the competition, Rodgers delivered an injury update that will excite the Hoops support.
Rodgers said [], “Greg Taylor has been a big miss for us. Someone like Greg it’s only when he’s out of the team that you you see what he brings.
“His brightness, his cleverness, his technique his physicality in terms of his running and into the right areas.
“He’s back training, and he’ll be available for next weekend. Carter-Vickers won’t be too long. Again, he’s out on the pitch but it’s been a challenging year for him.
“He’s had the operation and you know it’s like, from that there, he’s had rumblings there and he’s maybe even taken this whole year to to get over that and then have a good preseason.
“But he’s back on the pitch and hopefully in the next few weeks he’ll be okay.”

There is little doubt that Celtic are missing Carter-Vickers. The US defender has been superb for the Bhoys since his £6m move from Spurs in 2021 and Rodgers will be really looking forward to having him back in the side.
As Celtic looked a bit more composed and assured in the win at Paisley, there is little doubt that the return of Taylor and Carter-Vickers will bring a more settled feel to the Hoops defence.
For now though, Rodgers can look forward to the draw where the Celtic boss will learn who we will face in the quarter final.
