‘He’s a top player’: Parlour wowed by star Arsenal are ‘firm favourites’ to sign – Jesus aside

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has described Leeds United ace Raphinha as a “top player”, in conversation with .

The Gunners icon also lauded Richarlison, but he said he’d rather pay £50million for Raphinha than the Everton ace.

Arsenal have reportedly been eyeing both Raphinha and Richarlison in recent weeks.

recently claimed the Gunners – as well as Tottenham and Chelsea – were in pursuit of the Toffees star.

However, the speculation linking Arsenal to Raphinha seems stronger at the moment.

On Saturday, The Athletic reported that the Gunners will likely intensify their efforts to sign the Elland Road ace.

‘Further conversations are believed to be scheduled with the 25-year-old’s representatives as the North London club look to secure a deal,’ added the David Ornstein and Phil Hay report.

And ‘there is a sense around the situation, and among the other teams interested in Raphinha, that Arsenal are now firm favourites for his signature.’

“I think I’d go for Raphinha”

Arsenal reportedly tried their luck with a formal offer earlier this week, which Leeds rejected ‘out of hand’.

Now, with Arsenal seemingly closing in on Gabriel Jesus, it looks as though the Gunners will try again for Raphinha.

And Parlour clearly rates the Leeds forward highly.

“He (Raphinha) is a top player as well,” he told talkSPORT, via . “I think any club will be interested in Raphinha.

“I think Richarlison is a top player, don’t get me wrong, but I think he’s a little bit inconsistent at times, you’ve got to play him in the right position.

“But certainly Raphinha, he’s shown that he is a top player and I’m sure lots of clubs will be in for him as well”

Alan Brazil agreed that he would go for the Leeds man over his compatriot.

“I think I’d rather pay £50million for Raphinha than Richarlison. I think I’d go for Raphinha.” Brazil said.

To which Parlour replied: “Yeah, I would as well.”
