‘He’s a nightmare’: Joe Gomez says it’s actually ‘uncomfortable’ to play against 25-year-old Liverpool player

Liverpool star Joe Gomez has heaped praise on Luis Diaz for hitting the ground running following his January move to Anfield from Porto.
Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Tottenham Hotspur to sign the Colombian for an initial fee of £37 million in the winter window. () Not many people expected him to become an immediate star, but that’s exactly what he has done.
Diaz has impressed for Liverpool everytime he has stepped on the pitch. He has scored three goals and provided an assist in nine starts so far, but every defender he has come up against has faced problems.
Gomez, who plays against Diaz in training, has now revealed that it’s really ‘uncomfortable’ to play against him.
Joe Gomez: Liverpool star Luis Diaz is a nightmare to defend against
Speaking about the 25-year-old January signing, Gomez told : “I think he’s a top, top player. I think one of the biggest things is, as a team, the manager has instilled a philosophy to play with a high intensity and to press well.
“To come in the way he has, his quality on the ball speaks for itself. He’s so direct and he’s a nightmare for fullbacks, it’s not as common nowadays to have a direct winger that wants to take you on. I know playing full back what it feels like, it’s uncomfortable.
“Then on the other side, to come in and tactically understand the philosophy and to press with such tenacity. The way he plays, I think he couldn’t have gelled any better. I don’t think he could be much happier with how he’s settled in.”

TBR View:
It’s never easy for any player to come into the Premier League from a country where the football is not on the same level. Diaz, however, has made that claim look silly with his performances over the last few months.
The Colombian is a real problem for every defender. He’s perfect for Jurgen Klopp’s system as well and the 25-year-old could well be the difference-maker against the Champions today.
Liverpool take on Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley and after the 2-2 draw last weekend, Klopp will be hoping to get a win this evening.
Jose Enrique believes Diaz will start against Pep Guardiola’s side at Wembley and if Gomez is to be believed, he’ll make life extremely uncomfortable for City’s full-backs.
