‘He’s a leader’: Jesse Marsch was so impressed with 24-year-old Leeds player against Cardiff yesterday
Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch was impressed with new signing Max Wober’s impact against Cardiff City yesterday.
Wober came on just before the hour mark for Darko Gyabi, and helped contribute to Leeds’ second-half comeback.
He witnessed Rodrigo Moreno scored a header before having a penalty saved.
Sonny Perkins equalised in stoppage time, before Wober picked up a booking in the final minute.
The Austrian international has been signed to help shore up Leeds’ defence for the rest of the season.

that Leeds already believe they’ve got a bargain in Wober.
He didn’t have a huge amount of defensive work to do when he entered the pitch yesterday.
Cardiff already had their two-goal lead, and were doing their best to hold on.
However, Leeds will fancy their chances back at Elland Road when the replay takes place next week.
Marsch was impressed with Wober yesterday
: “Max [Wober], for a young player, he’s very mature, he’s a leader.
“He absolutely helped calm things down and helped make the right decisions to bring us back into the game.”
Leeds have heavily focused on bringing in young talent to the club with the potential to improve.
At 24, Wober is arguably one of the older players the Whites have signed in recent times under Marsch.
Recent signings Wilfried Gnonto, Perkins and Gyabi all played big roles yesterday, and are still teenagers.

Marsch knows Wober well from their time together at Red Bull Salzburg, and will know exactly what sort of character he’s getting.
Leeds travel to Aston Villa on Friday knowing how important a win could be for their survival chances.
Given the number of injuries they’re dealing with, Wober could be thrown straight into league action.
Marsch will be encouraged with Wober’s debut, and was clearly impressed with his first outing.
