‘He’s a bit of a freak’: Paul Merson says Liverpool have an ‘unbelievable player’ who could hurt Chelsea today

Liverpool take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final this evening and Paul Merson believes Mohamed Salah could be the difference-maker at Wembley.
The Reds have already beaten Thomas Tuchel’s side this season. That memorable win came in the Carabao Cup final earlier this year, a game that went to penalties and Caoimhin Kelleher became Liverpool’s hero on the night.
Chelsea will be looking for revenge this evening and they definitely have the team to cause problems to Liverpool. However, their recent form has been far from great, and the Reds will go into the game as the favourites once again.
Merson has backed Salah to fire Liverpool to their second trophy of the season today.
Paul Merson: Liverpool star Mo Salah is a freak
In his column on , under the heading ‘Salah could produce another crowning moment for Liverpool against Chelsea’, Merson wrote: “Ahead of a cup final, it’s impossible not to talk about Mohamed Salah, who recently proclaimed himself as the best player in the world in his position.
“I’d have to agree with him, as he’s a bit of a freak each time he plays and he turns up in all the big games.
“Salah is an absolutely unbelievable player and every young kid who aspires to make it as a footballer should look at what he’s prepared to do to keep himself at the very top.
“I don’t think Salah has got a point to prove despite his barren run in recent weeks, but everyone dreams of scoring at Wembley in a cup final, so it’ll be no different for him!”

TBR View:
Liverpool haven’t really been at their best in recent weeks, but they’re still picking up wins. That just shows you the mentality of Jurgen Klopp’s side, who are prepared to do everything to get the job done.
That’s exactly what Chelsea will be up against this evening. Thomas Tuchel’s side are still the European champions, but they’ve been really poor over the last few weeks.
If they don’t turn up to the occasion at Wembley, the Blues could really struggle – especially against Liverpool’s front three, who are arguably the most lethal goalscoring trio in the world at the moment.
Liverpool are still eyeing the quadruple, and they’ll be hoping Salah can fire them over the line this evening, just like he has done on multiple occasions before.
