Hertha Berlin appear to rule out move for Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius

Hertha Berlin general manager Michael Preetz has spoken about the club’s potential search for a new goalkeeper this summer, amid the rumours linking the club with a move for Liverpool misfit Loris Karius.

earlier this month that the Bundesliga side was looking at Karius as a potential replacement for current number one Rune Aleming Jarstein.

It was a deal that would make sense for both clubs.

Karius is not wanted at Liverpool but will need to find a new club after cutting his loan spell with Besiktas short over unpaid wages.was in the offing in Turkey, but that is no longer a possibility.

Despite this, Karius was told not to return to Melwood upon Liverpool’s return to training and has remained in Germany.

Hertha looked like a good potential move. Their Norwegian number one Jarstein is 35-years-old and has not had the best of seasons.

But Preetz that Hertha are planning to stick with Jarstein next season.

“We are totally planning with Rune. He hasn’t always been stable this season, but he’s back now.”

Indeed, this the other day that confirmed as much. They quoted Preetz as suggesting a move for Karius was ‘quite adventurous’ given his potential fee and salary. Hertha’s goalkeeper coach Zsolt Petry reportedly spoke with Karius on the phone but Hertha are not planning an offer for the player off the back of that contact.

So it would appear that Karius will have to try and find an alternative potential location to continue his career beyond the current campaign.

Liverpool will no doubt be hoping to make a sale in order to bring in some much-needed funds amid the current financial crisis.
