Fabrizio Romano says Aston Villa are now close to signing ‘incredible’ midfielder for just £5m

Aston Villa are close to making another signing before the end of June and could have an announcement in the next few days.

The Villans are getting active in the market ahead of the PSR deadline on June 30th and there’s been a flurry of transfer activity at the club.

The likes of Ian Maatsen are believed to be close to signing, while Tim Iroegbunam has moved to Everton and Villa have taken Lewis Dobbin the other way.

Villa are among a number of Premier League teams trading players right now as they look to balance the books.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, Villa are close to signing yet another new player.

Romano says a fee of around £5m has been agreed, while personal terms are also not a problem for the former Chelsea midfielder.

Barkley brings depth for Aston Villa after proving himself again

Some would argue that Ross Barkley has not quite fulfilled his potential in the game but after last season, he’s getting another crack with a top club.

Barkley proved a shrewd signing for Luton Town and while he couldn’t do enough to keep them in the league, he showed his class and worth at this level.

Barkley now has a chance to play in the Champions League and years after bursting onto the scene, cement himself as a major player again.

Indeed, another season like last year will surely bring England calls again as the ‘former ‘incredible‘ former Everton prodigy gets another shot at the big-time.
