‘Here we go’: Fabrizio Romano claims ‘amazing’ Newcastle-linked player is joining another club

Newcastle United were linked with Hugo Ekitike in the January transfer window and earlier this summer.

However, things didn’t go to plan for the Magpies with regards to getting a deal for the Reims striker over the line.

And now, Ekitike has all-but sealed a move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 20-year-old turned down a deadline-day move to Newcastle at the end of the January window.

The Magpies then came back for Ekitike this summer and things initially looked promising.

Newcastle and Reims agreed a deal worth €30million plus €5million in add-ons.

After this, only personal terms were left to sort out ahead of striking a deal.

However, Newcastle couldn’t agree terms with Ekitike’s agent, forcing Dan Ashworth to pull the plug on negotiations.

Now, Romano has declared “here we go” on Ekitike to PSG.

The transfer insider claimed the two French clubs have an “agreement in principle”.

PSG are paying “€30million plus add-ons” to sign a player Luis Campos has deemed a “top talent”.

While Ekitike is an “amazing talent“, Newcastle shouldn’t feel too aggrieved about missing out on him.

After all, they did all they could, and even agreed terms with Reims, but then, things went a bit pear-shaped.

Ekitike would’ve no doubt been the main man at Newcastle – he’ll have a lot more competition at PSG.
