Henry Onyekuru struggles make Everton sale look like a Brands masterstroke
Everton did some superb transfer business in the summer with James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure the pick of the bunch. It would seem, however, that the Toffees are capable of doing some strong outgoing deals.
Some supporters had questioned the decision to accept a bid for striker Henry Onyekuru in the summer of 2019. The talisman had caught the eye during 2018/19 when he scored 16 goals on loan at Galatasaray.
Everton were adamant he wasn’t part of their plans though and off he went to Ligue 1 outfit Monaco, ending his two-year association with the Blues.

After selling him to Monaco in 2019, he embarked on another loan in Turkey, with this one less successful than the first.
Onyekuru played in the first four games of the season for the Ligue 1 outfit and registered a single assist.
Since then he has failed to make an appearance and in six of the last seven games, he hasn’t even made the matchday squad.
Now, Turkish outlet is reporting that Galatasaray are preparing to sign the man who has excelled on loan permanently.
They want Onyekuru on loan until June 2022, with the option to buy him for just £2.5 million and give Monaco a 50% fee on any future sale.
It is also claimed that Onyekuru is keen to move to Turkey which doesn’t come as a massive surprise given it’s the club where he has played the most football in recent years.
Brands masterstroke?
Marcel Brands hit the nail on the head with the deals he managed to get over the line for Carlo Ancelotti in the summer.
Onyekuru has struggled to make an impact in France and that goes a long way to suggest he wouldn’t have made the grade with Everton.

Some supporters claimed he might be worth a chance given his goal-haul in Turkey.
It may have taken time but Ancelotti is slowly putting together a squad that supporters can once again buy into.
Onyekuru hasn’t pulled up any trees in France and just over a year into his time at Monaco, recouping £12 million looks like a masterful piece of work by Brands.
