Henrikh Mkhitaryan slammed Emery and now he’s showing Arsenal what they’re missing

It’s almost a year since Henrikh Mkhitaryan took a swipe at Arsenal boss Unai Emery for utilising him in a position where he couldn’t contribute goals or assists.

Yesterday he continued his fine form, scoring a hat-trick to show the Gunners exactly what sort of player they might have seen had he been used in a position that showcased his strengths.

Back in November 2019, the Armenian midfielder was interviewed by , with the main topic on why he perhaps didn’t take to life at Arsenal.

That was Mkhitaryan’s chance to give his opinion – and boy did he go to town on former Gunners manager Emery.

“He paid more attention to tactics, so my role changed. I was starting as a winger but had to build play with the defensive midfielder.

“It’s why I couldn’t contribute as many goals or assists.

“I like to play more freely and move wherever there’s space, but you have to do the job that the manager asks.”

Yesterday Mkhitaryan scored his fourth goal of the week with a devastating hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Genoa.

The 31-year-old followed up his goal against Cluj in the week in style and in the process offered an indication that Arsenal were using him all wrong.

Mkhitaryan has found some form in Paulo Fonseca’s team, scoring nine goals and registering six assists during the 2019/20 campaign.

The man with 88-caps for Armenia is playing either on the left flank or as a No.10 at the Stadio Olimpico and is clearly thriving.

Many Arsenal supporters didn’t want Mkhitaryan to be offloaded and on current form, it’s easy to see why.

Former boss Emery has a lot to answer for.
