‘Hell yeah’, ‘perfect’: Some Liverpool fans react as one-time £45m target now reportedly just £18m
A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on whether they’d like to see Junior Firpo at Anfield after the Reds one-time target was reportedly made available for transfer by Barcelona.
Firpo was believed to be on Liverpool’s radar last season, along with that of Manchester United, following an impressive 2018-19 season with Real Betis, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 24 La Liga games.
In the end, the 23-year-old joined Barca on a five-year deal for a reported €18million (£16.5million), with saying the deal included €12million add-ons and a release clause of €200million (£180million).

According to Spanish outlet , however, Barca have now made the wing-back available for €20million (£18million) and he could be offered to Inter Milan as part of a move for Lautaro Martinez.
Firpo has appeared in 16 matches for the Camp Nou side this campaign but he has so far failed to convince the head coaches – first Ernesto Valverde and then successor Quique Setien, who managed him at Betis – that he is worthy of a regular first-team berth.
When he was still at Betis, claimed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wanted to bring him to Anfield to put pressure on Andy Robertson, while suggested that the Reds were prepared to pay £45million for him.
With Firpo now reportedly available for £27million cheaper than Liverpool were willing to splash out for him, some Reds fans on social media gave their thoughts about whether they should rekindle their interest:
Why when we have Yasser Larouci. Everyone forgets about him. Haven’t seen one bad performance from him

£18 mill is decent for back up

Perfect signing, covers Lovren’s departure and backup left back

100%, class player
— Aaron (@GiniiWijnaldum)
Firpo would be quality. Personally I would like to see Hakimi come in but he’s not going to play backup. But could rotate between Robbo and Trent.

Sure, he should be a good backup
