‘He’ll become a top-level footballer’… Coach hails player Spurs have bid for

Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Radu Dragusin has been backed to “become a top-level footballer”.

This is the view of Claudio Onofri, a coach and pundit who spoke about the Genoa star, who is said to be in talks over a January move to Spurs.

As things stand, Tottenham are reportedly in talks with the Serie A side over Dragusin, although there hasn’t been a breakthrough yet as with Timo Werner.

For instance, Sacha Tavolieri recently claimed on that Spurs have seen a £15.5million bid turned down by Genoa, and another one is on the way.

Tottenham also need to watch out for Napoli, who have positioned themselves for a potential Dragusin swoop with a proposal for Genoa and a contract offer for the player.

Tottenham target ‘very tall and very strong’ Genoa defender Radu Dragusin

Onofri believes Spurs are currently ahead of the Neapolitans in the race for Dragusin, before going on to praise the 21-year-old on Radio Marte, via .

“To date, Tottenham seems to have the advantage (over Napoli), because they have offered important sums for the price,” he said.

“Regardless of what the player thinks, Genoa could prefer to give him to the English team to monetise. In any case Dragusin is an excellent prospect.

“At first, he didn’t seem to be Napoli’s level; over time, however, he showed good things.

“He is very tall and very strong with the head: he has an imperious distance both in the defensive phase and on set pieces.

“His height is not a negative aspect even on the frequency of his stride, because the boy reads the trajectories first and always manages to anticipate the opponent or cancel his dribbles.

“I am convinced that he will become a top-level footballer: he is young and must progress, but he is showing some excellent things, demonstrating a personality beyond his age.

“He has no defects, from this point of view: he only has merits. As a Genoa native, I hope he stays in Liguria until the end of the season.”

Tottenham hit the ground running in January transfer window

It has been a busy day on the transfer front for Tottenham. They’ve made a breakthrough over Werner, who now looks set for a medical ahead of a loan move with option to buy.

Spurs could certainly do with some more defensive reinforcements amid injuries for the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, and Dragusin looks like a good shout.

It’s good to see Tottenham hit the ground running in the January transfer window. We’re still in the first week of the year and they’ve sealed one signing with another one in the pipeline.
