‘He’ll be fuming’: Roy Keane thinks Aston Villa man was secretly so angry after Leeds United draw yesterday

Roy Keane thinks Steven Gerrard was secretly really angry with his Aston Villa side yesterday.

It was a fiery affair at Elland Road yesterday, with referee Stuart Attwell dishing out seven yellow cards.

Two of those went to Luis Sinisterra, as he received his marching orders for blocking a quickly taken free kick.

Keane believes Gerrard will be angry that his Villa team couldn’t take advantage of Leeds being down to ten men.

Villa had 19 shots, with seven of those being on target, creating five big chances ().

However, Illan Meslier was never properly tested, and Gerrard will believe that a brilliant opportunity to achieve back-to-back wins for the first time since May has been missed.

Gerrard was secretly angry with Villa players

“Frustrating. Clearly with Gerrard there and he’s trying to hide it well, but he’ll be fuming with his attacking players.

“Leeds were down to 10 men, he’ll be saying we got into some good areas but you want clinical, you weren’t nasty enough.

“The top strikers want to put the ball in the back of the net, whatever way they can.

“The Villa lads today were a bit lackadaisical with the opportunity. That’s why he’ll be, I think, fuming.”

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch was also unhappy after the match yesterday.

Marsch accused Gerrard’s side of time-wasting, and was upset with Villa playing the game at a ‘snail’s pace’.

Villa have only scored six league goals this season, and striker Ollie Watkins has admitted he needs to be more ‘selfish’.

That lack of cutting edge in the final third cost Aston Villa once again yesterday.

Gerrard only made two attacking changes, bringing Danny Ings and Emi Beundia.

It’s no surprise that Keane thinks Gerrard will be secretly angry with his Villa team after that performance.
