‘He won’t get the headlines’: Andy Robertson says one Liverpool star’s work rate was ‘different class’ vs City
Liverpool star Andy Robertson lavished praise on Mohamed Salah for his work rate against Manchester City on Saturday.
The Reds weren’t really playing their best football ahead of the game at Wembley but they stepped up when required. An early goal from Ibrahima Konate and a brace from Sadio Mane helped them win the game and make their way to the final of the FA Cup.
The only disappointing part of the game for the travelling Liverpool fans was that they didn’t get to see Mo Salah get on the score sheet.
That’s the reason why he’s not in the headlines following the Reds’ win on Saturday, but Robertson was absolutely blown away by the Egyptian’s work rate against the defending Premier League champions.

Speaking to about Liverpool’s attack, the Scotsman said: “The great thing about all our front three options is that they can play anywhere. Bobby (Firmino) can play a bit deeper, Diogo Jota and Diaz can play on both wings, and Sadio and Mo can both play through the middle.
“I thought Mo’s work rate was different class.
“He won’t get the headlines because he didn’t score. He expects to score and so does everyone else but he helped the team massively and sometimes that’s more important because we want to win trophies.
“Sometimes you have to sacrifice a little.”

As the famous saying goes, form is temporary, class is permanent. Liverpool fans have to remember this with respect to Salah now.
The Egyptian was arguably the best player in the world in the first half of the season. He almost singlehandedly won games for Liverpool, but things just haven’t been happening for him over the last two months.
However, it is good to see that he’s working hard for the team in important games. Yes, he may not pass the ball even when someone’s in a better position at times, but that shouldn’t cloud anyone’s judgement about how much he works for the team.
Liverpool’s quadruple hopes just got stronger after Saturday and if Salah can find his feet again, they will really back themselves to go all the away.
