‘He will stay’… £15m player looks set to stay at Tottenham this month

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg may not leave Tottenham Hotspur in the final days of the January transfer window.

That is according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, who has reported how Hojbjerg staying at Spurs could affect Tottenham’s pursuit of Conor Gallagher.

So, what has been reported about Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg? Let’s take a look.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could stay at Tottenham Hotspur

Well, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg may not leave Tottenham Hotspur this week.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that with a potential move to Atletico Madrid not happening and not many clubs trying to sign Hojbjerg now, the 28-year-old Denmark international could stay at Spurs for the second half of the season as well.

Crook has noted if Tottenham are unable to move on the £15 million () midfielder, then Spurs may not be able to sign England international midfielder Conor Gallagher from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea this week.

Crook told : “A move for Gallagher could only happen if Hojbjerg goes. I was told a couple of weeks ago that a Gallagher move hinged on whether anyone came in for Hojbjerg, which I don’t think they have.

“There was talk about Atletico, but they’re signing Arthur Vermeeren. At the moment, Hojbjerg will stay, which will have ramifications for Gallagher. As it is, I think Chelsea are still looking for £50m, so it’s a difficult one to do.”

My View: Tottenham Hotspur should keep Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

In my opinion, Tottenham Hotspur should not be in a rush to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. I think that if Spurs do not get the transfer fee they are looking for the Danish midfielder, then they should keep him. The North London club should certainly not loan him out.

Hojbjerg is a squad player at Spurs now. Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou does not seem to think that he is good enough for the starting lineup week in and week out.

The 28-year-old Denmark international midfielder has made five starts and 15 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham this season.

However, Hojbjerg is a very experienced player, and I think that he still has a role to play for Spurs this season.

Tottenham are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season and perhaps even challenge for the title. Hojbjerg is a valuable option to have in the squad.
