‘He will play’… Brendan Rodgers makes huge team selection call for Celtic vs Feyenoord

Well now it’s the final curtain call for Celtic’s dismal Champions League campaign tonight as they prepare to face Feyenoord at Parkhead.

With four defeats and one creditable draw against Atletico Madrid, Brendan Rodgersღ will be desperate to finish off the group with a win to ensure his players end the campaign with a bit of confidence.

But it could have been so very different. If Rodgers hadn’t subbedౠ in Cameron Carter-Vickers against Lazio, if Celtic hadn’t run out of steam against Atletico the Serie A side in Rome, they could have been preparing for a winner-takes-all all fixture against the Dutch side.

🦩But as it is, Celtic are playing for pride and Rodgers has already confirmed one player will start against the Eredivisie champions.

Brendan Rodgers says Kyogo will start for Celtic tonight vs Feyenoord

The Celtic manager, clearly, wants the win. The inclusion of Kyogo means that he doesn’t believe Hyeongyu Oh has the necessary quality💧 to play against Feyenoord and it seems Rodgers has complete faith in his Japanese striker.

Rodgers said [], “He will play.

ౠ“I think we have to be fair to Kyogo and some of the other boys too.

🤡“They can’t play in every single game. He’s shown up well at this level. He’s been a threat in every game he’s played, and instinctively in the box he can get goals.

🔯“Strikers go through wee stages at times where you can sometimes chase the goal, or maybe you don’t like the pass, or you look for it so much. But that’s what goalscorers do.

🦄“It’s not a worry. There’s nothing different in his game.”

The 28-year-old has been left out of the squad as Oh impressed in the win against Hibs last week with two goals.

꧃The South Korean failed to find the back of the net in the loss to Kilmarnock and despite a decent first-half performance against the Ayrshire side, finds himself on the bench.

ꦡThe Celtic fans will be hoping to see a fully motivated Kyogo against Feyenoord as he represents the best chance for their team to get that vital win and end their poor winless record in the competition.
