‘He will not start’: Jurgen Klopp says 22-year-old Liverpool player definitely won’t be playing this evening

Caoimhin Kelleher was the hero for Liverpool against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday but Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the goalkeeper will not start tonight.
The Reds have one trophy in the bag already but there’s still a lot to play for. Klopp’s main focus will be on the Premier League and the Champions League, but he shouldn’t forget about the FA Cup.
Liverpool host Norwich City in the oldest cup competition in history this evening and it goes without saying that the Reds will be the favourites to pick up a win.
Kelleher, who was absolutely outstanding at Wembley, would’ve loved to start again tonight, but Klopp has already decided against it.
Jurgen Klopp: Caoimhin Kelleher will not play for Liverpool vs Norwich
The Liverpool boss said yesterday, as per the : “He’s not used to 120 minutes and being the hero. There’s no need to stress the situation now. No, he will not start tomorrow.
“For young goalkeepers, it’s, of course, about development, and Caoimhin developed here in this situation incredibly well. There was absolutely no intention to sell him or something like that, or give him on loan. Not at all because we need a strong No.2.
“Winning a trophy, that will help him? You have to ask Caoimhin that. But he has here a long-term contract and we have a long-term plan with him. But maybe there’s a year where he has to go on loan – I’m not sure if that will be next year or maybe later, it depends a little bit.”

TBR View:
Kelleher leaving Liverpool now is unimaginable for Reds fans but Klopp’s plan may just be the right one.
As long as Allison is at Anfield, Kelleher will only get opportunities in domestic cup competitions. The 22-year-old has already shown his class there and he is now at the stage of his career where he needs regular game time at the top level.
A loan spell away at a club where he will be tested week in, week out could do wonders for his career. That will definitely be an option for Liverpool in the summer and it will be interesting to see where he’ll end up if he’s allowed to leave temporarily.
