‘He will be top level’: Some Arsenal fans are getting excited about 21-year-old with ‘big potential’

A number of Arsenal fans have given their thoughts on Matteo Guendouzi’s interview with in which he says he wants to fight for a place in the Gunners team next season.

The 21-year-old is spending the 2020-21 campaign with Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin after falling out of favour with Mikel Arteta.

Guendouzi joined Arsenal in 2018 from French outfit Lorient, the Gunners reportedly paying £7million for his services, and has made 82 appearances in red and white.

However, he was frozen out at the Emirates Stadium in wake of an incident with Brighton striker Neal Maupay towards the end of their Premier League clash in June.

To date, Guendouzi has made 19 appearances for Hertha – all in the league – scoring twice and assisting once.

The Frenchman’s Arsenal contract expires at the end of next season and so the summer is set to provide an indication as to whether he has a future in North London.

Nonetheless, Guendouzi seems eager to win his place back in Arteta’s plans, telling : “I am focused on my season with Hertha Berlin.

“Next, we will sit down with my entourage and people at the club to discuss the future. This summer will be a decisive moment.

“I belong to Arsenal for another year. From the moment that I am playing for Arsenal, I will give everything for the club, fans, team, and staff.

“I will work hard for the shirt as I have always done.”

Here is what some Arsenal fans on social media made of Guendouzi’s comments:
