‘He was very good’: Ian Wright impressed by Arsenal star Nicolas Pepe
Arsenal might have lost to Wolves last night, but former striker Ian Wright said he was ‘delighted’ by the performance of Nicolas Pepe.
The Ivorian has often flattered to deceive since arriving at The Emirates. A big-money signing from Lille, Pepe has struggled for consistency both in terms of game-time and performance levels.

But Pepe scored a wonderful goal at Molineux last night before seeing two red cards derail Arsenal’s hopes of a win. However, his performance caught the eye of Arsenal icon Wright, who admitted he was impressed by Pepe.
“I’m delighted for him, playing over on the left he has found a lot of confidence,” Wright told
“It is very easy the way he has gone past two players from Wolves, a really good goal, he’s been getting a lot of stick, but since he’s been playing the last couple of games, Southampton, he was very good. (Arsenal) deserved to be up.”

The winger has been given his chance by Nicolas Pepe and seems to have seized it with both hands. The signing of Martin Odegaard last week, and the emergence of Emile Smith-Rowe, potentially sparking him into life.
TBR View: A firing Nicolas Pepe can only be good for Arsenal
Sometimes a player just needs time to settle into things and get fully adapted and it might be the case with Pepe here.
He’s got so much talent but has, at times, looked lost under different managers and systems with the Gunners.
His last few weeks have been impressive, though. And last night, the goal summed up everything he can be for Arsenal.
