‘He was brilliant’… Aaron Ramsey says defender Arsenal sold for £5m was utterly fantastic
The 2010s weren’t exactly a golden era for Arsenal, but they did have some fantastic players during that time.
Indeed, despite a lack of consistent success during that period, Arsenal did have some brilliant players such as Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez who lit up the Emirates around that time.
Arsenal had plenty of attacking talent throughout that period, while their defence wasn’t too bad either.
Speaking on , Aaron Ramsey has been building a dream five-a-side team of players he played with, and he reserved some special praise for Laurent Koscielny.

Aaron Ramsey praises Laurent Koscielny
The Welshman spoke about the French defender.
“I would go with Koscielny at the back. He was brilliant, a brilliant player for us, and he had every attribute, he would be my centre-back,” Ramsey said.
Fantastic
It’s easy to forget because Arsenal weren’t all that brilliant during this era, but Koscielny was fantastic for the Gunners for a long time.
There was a period when Koscielny, along with Per Mertesacker combined for what was perhaps the best defensive partnership in England for a period.
Sadly, Arsenal never quite put everything together in the right way, there was always one or two cogs missing. When their defence was at its best, their attack was lacking, and when they finally got their attack to click, their defence seemed to fall apart.
Koscielny may have left Arsenal in rather dour circumstances when he left for Bordeaux for , but he was a solid defender for a long time, and he deserves to be remembered as an important figure in Arsenal’s recent history as he played a big part in helping the Gunners end their trophy drought in the 2010s with a few FA Cup wins under his belt.
Koscielny doesn’t go down as an Arsenal legend, but he was a good player for a long time.
