‘He wants to’: Cenk Tosun’s agent discusses his Everton future
Cenk Tosun wants to stay at Everton beyond the January transfer window, with his agent that the striker believes that he has plenty to offer Rafa Benitez’s side before the end of the campaign.
Tosun has got used to moving during the winter window. He arrived at Goodison Park for £27 million in 2018, and left on loan for Crystal Palace two years later. He also joined Besiktas at the start of this year.
But it would appear that no move is on the cards this time around. The Athletic notes that he is out of contract at the end of the campaign. And Everton would seemingly be open to offers for the forward.
Benitez hopes to reduce the size of his squad to raise funds for future additions. But he may be set for disappointment should Tosun be on his list of players to ideally offload.
His agent has suggested that the Turkey international – who made his return from injury at the start of this month – is not looking to leave and hopes to make an impact this season.
“He has a contract until the end of the season and he wants to give something back. He feels like he can contribute and is not the type to just sit on the bench and be happy,“ .
Cenk Tosun facing uphill battle trying to force way back into Everton side
It was an ominous sign for Tosun that he played no part on Sunday as Everton faced Crystal Palace. He dropped down having been on the bench for the win over Arsenal.
Both Richarlison and Salomon Rondon scored for the Toffees last week. And Benitez will hope to have Dominic Calvert-Lewin back from injury in the coming weeks.
With that in mind, Tosun – – is going to face a tough time trying to get back into the side. Unfortunately, his time on Merseyside has not gone to plan. And with his long-term future seemingly lying elsewhere, it is hard to imagine Benitez giving him a run in the team before his departure.
