TalkSport pundit Alan Brazil has revealed that Mauricio Pochettino wants to return to Tottenham Hotspur to replace Antonio Conte as the club’s manager.

The Argentine was at the helm at Spurs for over five years. Although he didn’t win any silverware during his time in North London, he truly transformed them into one of the best sides in the country.

However, a poor start to the 2019/20 season made Daniel Levy decide that he had to go. Pochettino was sacked in November, just a few months after he led Tottenham to the Champions League final.

Now, over two years since his departure, Spurs look considerably worse. Conte doesn’t even look like he wants to be there and Brazil’s source has told him that Pochettino, , really wants to return and take his old job back.

Alan Brazil: Mauricio Pochettino wants to come back to Tottenham

The presenter, who once played for Tottenham, said on his show yesterday: “Pochettino is not going to (Manchester) United – Man United have been warned by PSG sporting director [Leonardo] that Pochettino has no intention of leaving Paris.

“Well, I tell you right now, that is not the case.

“From the horse’s mouth, he wants to come back to the Premier [League] and he wants to come back with Tottenham. He wants to come back to Spurs, I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but that’s what he wants.

“I’m not saying Poch won’t go to United, because if he can’t get back to Spurs and United want him, he’d be a fool probably to say no. But, I do know, in his heart, he wants to come back to Spurs.”

This really is a tricky one for Tottenham.

On one hand, they have Conte, who is among the best managers in the world. If he gets the team he wants at Spurs, he will surely make them one of the best sides in the country in the coming years.

However, on the other hand, it’s evident for everyone that the Italian isn’t really happy. He doesn’t look like he wants to be at Tottenham anymore, which could open the door for Mauricio Pochettino to come back and finish what he started.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the coming months. If Conte walks away and Pochettino comes back, most Spurs fans won’t be too upset about it.
