‘He just doesn’t allow’: Jesse Marsch’s former player names one big change he’ll bring to Leeds United

Leeds United have appointed Jesse Marsch as their manager following Marcelo Bielsa’s departure and Shaun Wright-Phillips has delivered his verdict on the American.
The Whites parted ways with Bielsa after their 4-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend. The Argentine will go down as a hero for Leeds supporters and rightly so after everything he did at Elland Road during his time there.
It’s time for a new era now and Marsch is a really interesting appointment. He’s very highly regarded as a manager and many even believe that his philosophy will be very similar to that of Bielsa.
Wright-Phillips, who played under Marsch in America, has revealed one difference.
Shaun Wright-Phillips: How Leeds United will set up under Jesse Marsch
The Englishman, who spent a year playing under Marsch at New York Red Bulls in the MLS, said on yesterday: “I think he’s a good fit for Leeds in general because his press is pretty similar in a way to Bielsa’s.
“He just doesn’t allow his players to end up vacating certain areas of the pitch and leaving big gaps, which in the Premier League with the quality that’s there can be exploited.
“He has a philosophy that Leeds fans can get behind. Everything with him is similar to Bielsa, he doesn’t want anything but hard work.”

TBR View:
Marsch was only appointed as the new Leeds boss yesterday but the American doesn’t have a lot of time to change things around at Elland Road.
The Whites travel to the King Power to take on Leicester City in the early kickoff on Saturday and even though the Foxes are in a terrible run of form themselves, it will not be an easy game.
It will be interesting to see how different Leeds will look under Marsch than they were under Bielsa over the last three years. If he does what Wright-Phillips believes he’ll do, the Whites will become a really strong team again.
However, closing those gaps will not be easy, especially if his attacking philosophy is the same as Bielsa’s.
