‘He is that good’… Kieran Gibbs says one Arsenal player has made such a big difference recently

Kieran Gibbs has suggested that Jorginho has made a huge difference to the balance of the Arsenal team with his form for the Gunners in recent weeks.

Jorginho continues to prove that those of us who doubted whether he would be a good signing at the end of the 2023 January transfer window were very much mistaken.

The Italy international had been struggling for Chelsea in the months before his move. And given the timing, it appeared to be something of a desperate move from Mikel Arteta.

Kieran Gibbs lauds Jorginho after Arsenal win

However, Jorginho has proved to be an inspired signing for Arsenal. He has rarely let the Gunners down when he has come into the side. You could count on one hand the number of mistakes he has made.

And he has been particularly superb in recent games. Jorginho was outstanding as Arsenal blew Newcastle away at the weekend.

Speaking on , Kieran Gibbs suggested that bringing Jorginho into the side has proved to be a masterstroke from Arteta.

“Rice and Odegaard next to each other, they provide more than enough for Jorginho to sit there and control the game from deeper on the pitch. He can do that by himself because he is that good when he is on form. So the additions at the moment of Jorginho and Kiwior have really helped the balance of the team I think,” he said.

An inspired signing from Mikel Arteta

Certainly, on current evidence, you have to say that Jorginho does get into Arsenal’s best side. The Gunners appear to have found another gear of late, winning all four league games in February, scoring 18 goals and conceding just two.

They have certainly sent a message to the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool. And finding that perfect balance does appear to be bringing the best out of the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz.

Obviously, Declan Rice was the marquee midfield signing in 2023. But when it comes to value for money, Jorginho will be viewed as one of the most important should Arsenal get across the line in the title race.
