‘He had a really good game’…Ange Postecoglou delighted with ‘aggressive’ 27-year-old Tottenham player v Palace
Tottenham eventually got over the line today against Crystal Palace as they came from behind to pick up a big three points.
Ange Postecoglou once again got a response in the second 45 minutes from his team in what has become a bit of a hallmark of their season.
Goals from Timo Werner, Cristian Romero and then Heung-Min Son sealed the deal for Spurs, who keep firmly in contention for the top four.
Of course, there were a few little side stories to this game, one being that Werner got his first goal for the club. The German couldn’t really miss as he fired Tottenham level and speaking about the 27-year-old after the game, Postecoglou admitted he was delighted to see Werner’s persistence pay off.
“For all of the attacking players goals are important. I thought he was having good game generally [despite first-half miss]. He didn’t stop believing, got into the right area and outstanding work from Brennan [Johnson, who provided the cross],” Postecoglou
In further comments on Werner after the game, Postecoglou praised Werner further.
“I thought he had a really good game Timo. He was aggressive, taking on his full-back, he obviously missed his chance which he was disappointed with but he got his goal, winger to winger, which is something we work on every day,”, Ange .

Werner has been a good signing for Tottenham
While the goals haven’t exactly been there, few would argue that the signing of Timo Werner hasn’t been a success of sorts for Spurs.
The German has electric pace out wide and even if he’s not scoring all the time, he gives Postecoglou what he needs in terms of players in the final third.
Whether or not he’ll have done enough in the summer for Tottenham to consider a permanent deal, is another matter in itself. But right now, Timo Werner is doing the business and helping the team.
Today was another big result for Spurs in their quest for the top four and these sorts of wins cannot be discounted.
Werner, then, can be happy with his contribution to the game and Spurs fans will be hoping this kickstarts a run of goals for their loanee.
