‘He can do absolutely anything’: Daniel James says Leeds have a top talent in their ranks

Leeds United winger Daniel James has waxed lyrical about Elland Road teammate Raphinha, in conversation with the .

The Whites signed the 24-year-old from French outfit Rennes on deadline day in October 2020.

Leeds paid a reported £17million plus add-ons for the Brazilian, who penned a four-year deal at Elland Road.

Raphinha has prospered under Marcelo Bielsa, going on to become one of the team’s most exciting players.

He has made 41 competitive appearances for Leeds, registering an impressive 11 goals and nine assists.

And this season, despite the Whites’ struggles in the league, he still has five goals from 10 games.

In addition, Raphinha has also made his Brazil breakthrough, and already has four caps for the Selecao.

James, speaking to the whilst on international duty with Wales, was asked how good Raphinha is.

“He’s a magician,” said the 24-year-old.

“He’s always been a great player – I played against him at United and he was always great – but he’s improved so much.

“He fully deserved his Brazilian call-up and I think since he got it, he’s pushed on even more, he’s even more confident.

“He can do absolutely anything on the pitch. It’s great playing with him.”
