‘He always lets you down’…Tim Sherwood says one Liverpool player proved him wrong v Brentford today

Liverpool hammered their way past Brentford today as they saw off a number of injury problems to register another easy win.

Despite Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones going off injured and Darwin Nunez going off at half-time as well, Liverpool worked their way past the Bees with some ruthless finishing.

Of course, Uruguayan star Nunez got himself a goal before going off as he continued his fine run of form.

As we know, Nunez has had doubters and critics throughout the season but he is going along nicely and showed his class in front of goal today.

And speaking about the goal for , Tim Sherwood admitted that the finish from Nunez had proven his theory of the striker always letting Liverpool down, completely wrong.

“It’s a crude clearance from van Dijk. That is unbelievable vision from Diogo Jota to see Darwin Nunez. When he gets time, he always lets you down – not on this occasion. He flicks it seven feet in the air, it’s a wonderful finish. A lot of credit has to go to this lad,” Sherwood said.

Darwin Nunez is a class act

For all the pundits and fans who have a dig at Nunez and despite him being susceptible to missing chances, Darwin Nunez is a brilliant centre-forward.

Like Ivan Toney at the other end for Brentford, Nunez makes the Liverpool team miles better and he is now a crucial figure in the Reds XI.

His finish today was that of a player who is in-form and out to prove a point. Quite why he was taken off at the break, is yet to be answered.

But with Nunez in this sort of form and even pundits like Tim Sherwood giving him credit, he must be doing something right in his play.
