Have West Ham given Celtic a boost in reported pursuit of African striker?
Celtic are reportedly looking to sign Alaves striker Patrick Twumasi this summer after almost landing him this time last year, and West Ham United may have given the Hoops a boost.
that 25-year-old striker Twumasi is a target for Celtic, after he scored twice against the Hoops in the summer of 2017 for Astana. His 18 goals in 2017-18 earned him a move to Alaves, ahead of Celtic.
But he struggled to adapt with the La Liga club, managing just 13 appearances and failing to score a single goal. Now, Alaves are willing to listen to offers for the Ghana international as per the report, and West Ham may have helped.
That is because they sold striker Lucas Perez to the top-tier side, for a fee of just £2million (). Perez, 30, only joined West Ham last summer from Arsenal, and scored six goals in 19 outings.

Perez has excellent stats in La Liga, scoring 32 goals in 93 Spanish league matches as well as showing a creative side – laying on 20 assists. It means his presence in the Alaves side has pushed Twumasi down the pecking order.
Alaves are reportedly willing to offload speed machine Twumasi and that could be because the Hammers have sold Perez to the Spanish club, making Twumasi surplus to requirements.
With Twumasi now of no importance to the Spanish club, Celtic may find their pursuit of the Ghana ace much easier than it could have previously been had West Ham opted against selling Perez to Alaves.
