Have Leeds United made a mistake not following up Michel Vorm offer?

Leeds United are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper this winter after Jamal Blackman’s loan spell ended due to a leg break. Bailey Peacock-Farrell clearly needs support or replacing after a string of indifferent displays.

Karl Darlow of Newcastle United appeared to be number one choice. However, as reported by Leeds are not prepared to pay £4 million for the player and their interest is, quote, ‘diminishing’.

However, it appears Michel Vorm could be an option. The report claims that Tottenham Hotspur have offered the Dutchman to Leeds. Marcelo Bielsa has a close relationship with Mauricio Pochettino and it appears Vorm could have headed to Elland Road as a consequence.

However, the Leeds do not intend to sign the player.

Perhaps his wages are an issue or Leeds simply do not fancy the Dutchman, who is now third-choice at Spurs after Paulo Gazzaniga’s impressive form.

But it is surely a mistake not to bring Vorm in if a deal is possible.

The 35-year-old is a 15-cap Dutch international who, despite his inactivity at Spurs, had a brilliant reputation from his time in the Premier League with Swansea City.

Bringing in such an experienced goalkeeper at this stage of the season could have been a massive game-changer for Leeds. For some, a goalkeeper is the missing piece of the Leeds promotion jigsaw. So turning away from Vorm might be seen as an error in judgement.
