Have Leeds made a £2.5m mistake, as Stoke City sign defender?
Stoke City confirmed the signing of centre-back Liam Lindsay earlier this week, informing fans in a club statement that theyꦐ had spent £2.5millio𓆏n to land the former Barnsley rock – but have Leeds United made a mistake?
Stoke announced the signing of the 23-year-old defender, along with free agent moves for Nick Powell, Jordan Cousins, Lee Gregory and Adam Davie🦋s. The quartet’s contracts were due to expire at their previous clubs.
, who starred for Barnsley in their promotion last season. In 41 League One fixtures, Lindsay helped his side keep an enormous 22 clea🌠n sheets.
back in March that both Leeds and Celtic wante🧔d the uncapped Scotsman. Both clubs are in need of a centre-back and had identified Lindsay as the perfect signing this summer.
However, Leeds have now missed out on Lind🌠say, who would have been perfect for Marcelo Biel💦sa’s side – especially at £2.5million. Indeed, Lindsay shares many similarities in his game with that of Leeds skipper Liam Cooper.

The Whites have just Cooper and Pontus Jansson available as first-teaꦆm options, while Aapo Halme and Pascal Struijk are still very young. Luke Ayling, Gaetano Berardi and Kalvin Phillips have acted as cover at times.
Luring Lindsay to Elland Road this summer would not only have given Bielsa cover and another option at the heart of h🍃is defence, bu🦋t it would have also brought out the best of both Cooper and Jansson.
The duo have no compe🍸tition at the moment for the centre-back role, but Lindsay would have been breathing down their necks in the race to start against Bristol City on August 4.
However, Leeds have missed out, and they could come𝔉 to regret failing to match Stoke’s £2.5million bid.
