‘Has to be done’: Phil Hay says Leeds are now taking action to try to stop PL sides signing ‘fantastic’ player
Leeds United are planning talks with Jack Harrison over a new contract after a transfer window where he was the subject of Premier League interest.
The report that the plan always was for discussions over a new deal to start once the window slammed shut.
Newcastle United were probably the keenest party on Harrison, with the reporting the Magpies made at least two bids.
Tottenham were also but Leeds quoted £60 million after selling Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha to Manchester City and Barcelona.

Leeds want to give Harrison a new contract
Journalist Phil Hay : “The plan was to open talks with him after the window closed and I’d expect that to happen.
“It has to be done because like you say, if he’s down to 12 months at the end of this season, then Leeds will have to think about selling him, but they’ll be in no position to maximise his value.”
Harrison has been mentioned as a potential option for England, with Gareth Southgate set to name his final squad before the World Cup tomorrow.
When Leeds beat Chelsea 3-0 earlier this season, Harrison was hailed for his workrate by Jermain Defoe on Match of the Day 2.
“This one, I just want to highlight him there at the top. He puts the corner in and some players may switch off and try and get in the box. You see him here, senses danger, realises if he switches off there, on the turnover it could become two on one,” .
“He gets back into a defensive position, delays the play and he waits. Watch him here, and he ends up getting a block, which is fantastic because he’s the man who actually took the corner.
“It’s brilliant, it’s the side of the game people don’t talk about.”
