‘Has got to do better’: Chris Sutton not happy with Tottenham 29-year-old tonight
Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies received criticism from BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton in the first half of their Champions League meeting with Sporting CP.
Antonio Conte’s Spurs hosted the Portuguese giants at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hoping to seal qualification in Group D.
However, Tottenham struggled in the first half and fell a goal behind. Spurs academy graduate Marcus Edwards struck against his former club.

The 23-year-old got the better of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg before embarking on a driving run which culminated in a 25-yard rocket into the bottom cormer.
The warning signs were there for Tottenham. The hosts enjoyed some good opportunities but also came under attack from some dangerous Sporting breaks.
In the 20th minute, Pedro Porro whipped in a right-wing cross which Paulinho met first-time from close range. However, he turned it over the bar.
Sutton, commentating on , said: “The bounce just in front of Paulinho did for him.
“Ben Davies has got to do better to stop the cross. If he gets that on target, it’s 1-0 to Sporting. Another warning shot from Sporting.”

Davies flattered to deceive in the first half against Sporting, and really needs to get closer to Porro to try and stop his deliveries in the box.
However, the 29-year-old was not the only Spurs player to struggle. The likes of Lucas Moura and Eric Dier also need to do better.
Conte will no doubt be giving his players a stern talking to in the changing room at half time.
