Struijk went to hook the ball away as Elliott broke forward for the Reds. However, the latter’s ankle appeared to get trapped under Struijk’s trailing leg.

It quickly became apparent how serious the problem was with Mohamed Salah pleading for the game to be stopped.

Shortly after, Struijk was shown a red card by Craig Pawson.

It did appear that there was absolutely no intent from Struijk to even make contact with Elliott. And he was clearly left devastated by what happened.

The 21-year-old took to social media after the game. He expressed how gutted he was for Elliott.

The Liverpool man quickly alleviated a lot of concerns by posting a very early update on Instagram. inside Elland Road who applauded him off the pitch.

And he has now shared his reaction to Struijk’s post.

In an outstanding message, Elliott insisted that the pair were simply desperately unlucky. Remarkably, he also suggested that it was not a red card…

Leeds and Liverpool fans will be desperate to see two of their brightest prospects bounce back as Elliott reacts to Struijk message

It would have been a terrible turn of events whichever two players were involved. But it almost feels all the more harrowing because it involves Elliott and Struijk.

The Liverpool man is an outrageous prospect. Struijk meanwhile, has been absolutely superb since Leeds were promoted.

Hopefully, Struijk is able to move forward, particularly in the wake of Elliott’s message.

And hopefully, it is not too long before Elliott is back on the pitch stealing the show.
