Harvey Elliott praises Leeds starlet on Instagram after goal on loan

Harvey Elliott has praised Ryan Edmondson on Instagram after the Leeds United loanee posted in the wake of his goal and assist this week.

Edmondson has not had the easiest start to life with Fleetwood Town. He has made seven appearances in League One. However, he has been on the pitch for less than 140 minutes in total.

Where he has shone however, is the Papa John’s Trophy. He scored against Leicester City’s under-21s in Fleetwood’s opening game.

And he has followed that by scoring one and setting up another in their win over Barrow this week.

Edmondson has taken to Instagram to mark the result. And amongst those to reply was Elliott, with the Liverpool starlet offering some praise…

Edmondson surely playing to secure good move with Leeds seemingly moving on from striker

There was a time when Edmondson looked destined for the first-team fold at Elland Road. He made his debut at 16. And he was making a major impression for the youth ranks.

Unfortunately, he has struggled to kick on from there. It does appear that Marcelo Bielsa has never been fully convinced about the 20-year-old.

And his loan spells are yet to make Bielsa rue the decision to let him go.

Leeds have also brought in the likes of Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood. The pair are now well ahead of Edmondson in the pecking order.

With that in mind, Edmondson’s Fleetwood spell could be important in securing a good move in the future.

With Leeds progressing, it looks unlikely that he is going to appear for the Whites again. But there is every reason to believe that the starlet can go on and enjoy a very good career.
