Harvey Elliott lauds Pascal Struijk on Instagram after Leeds goal

Harvey Elliott has sent a message to Pascal Struijk after the Leeds United star scored a last-gasp goal for the Whites to lift them out of the relegation zone on Sunday.

Jesse Marsch’s side have handed themselves a lifeline in the battle to stay in the Premier League. With Burnley losing earlier in the day, Leeds had the opportunity to ensure that they will definitely take the battle to the final day.

They would have obviously dreamed of beating Brighton. But ultimately, they had to settle for a point, with Struijk coming to their rescue in the final moments of the contest.

Joe Gelhardt did brilliantly to cross the ball towards the back post in stoppage-time. And Struijk was there to nod the opportunity over the line to send Elland Road into a frenzy.

Struijk has now taken to Instagram to comment on the result. And amongst those to reply with a message of congratulations was Elliott, with the Liverpool starlet praising the centre-back for the potentially-massive goal…

Obviously, the relationship between Struijk and Elliott is well-documented. Their paths crossed for the first time when Struijk was sent off for a challenge on the Liverpool man at Elland Road earlier this season.

Elliott sustained a terrible injury. However, Struijk appeared to have absolutely no intention of causing any harm. Initially, the referee seemed to wave play on before the severity of Elliott’s injury became apparent.

The 19-year-old demonstrated his class by insisting that Struijk should not have been sent off. And he actually apologised to the Leeds youngster when his appeal was unsuccessful.

And it seems that their friendship has continued.

Elliott will seemingly be hoping that they meet in the Premier League once again next season.
