Hartson delivers parting shot to Edouard ahead of reportedly imminent Celtic exit, before wishing him luck
Odsonne Edouard is set to leave Celtic for Crystal Palace and John Hartson has delivered a parting shot in the direction of the French striker.
Edouard, 23, has been excellent for Celtic over the last four years. Initially joining Celtic on loan from PSG, he has since clocked up 179 appearances.
The France Under-21 international has scored 86 goals for the Hoops in that time, laying on 39 assists. He is in the final 12 months of his Celtic contract.
Fabrizio Romano reported on deadline day, that his spell in Glasgow is about to come to an end. Palace are ready to pay £16.25m for Edouard.
A medical is due to take place on Tuesday morning with everything in place for a move to Selhurst Park.
Hartson on Edouard: Palace move a good one for Celtic ace
Edouard is a brilliant signing for Palace. On the face of it, Palace need a striker and Christian Benteke simply is not scoring enough goals.
At Palace, the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Jordan Ayew are used out wide – both starting either side of Benteke against West Ham on Saturday.
The duo do not cross the ball in, though. They cut inside, they shoot, they are goalscorers themselves. Unsurprisingly, then, Benteke has struggled.
He has not had the service. Palace need a striker that can drop in and prove creative, as well as scoring different types of goals. Edouard is that man.
His 39 assists for Celtic might prove just as tempting for Palace, compared to his 89 goals in 179 games. A good move for Palace and Edouard.
